A little background first:

I am installing a Windows 2003 server which has no floppy and no place for a floppy to plug in.

I was given a Pre-Install CD which should apparently have got past this problem, but the CD was defective and getting a replacement is proving **** near impossible.

I was then told about nLite which seemed to be the answer to my problems.

So enough of the history, now my current problem is I am trying to put the SATA drivers on the CD using nLite.

I go through the process and add the drivers at the correct stage then burn the CD.

When I use it to boot all goes well, then it gets to the "Press Enter to Setup Windows" which I do and it says "No Hard Drives have been found"

The server is HP ML110 G4 so I went to this page: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/se...69_6309.html#31

and selected the download for the "HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003"

I believe this is correct, but I am unsure on how to find out which one exactly I need?

In the text popup in nLite it says it is a "Adaptec SATA driver for Windows XP/2003"

Where am I going wrong?

probably easiest method would be a usb floppy mate,

If your sure you have the right drivers, nlite is pretty straight forward so find it hard to believe you could &^*% up the driver embeding.

I have used nlite with my setup at home as, like you in this situation dont have a fdd and it works without a hitch.

So its gotta be the wrong driver.

Canna be any more help mate.

Might be wrong but I seem to remember there are two ways mass storage drivers can be installed - textmode enabled and not textmode enabled.

To work with the Windows installer (which is textmode) you need textmode drivers. Have a fiddle with nLite and see if you can find an option anywhere to do with it. If not you must have the wrong driver.

Hope this helps, null :)

You could use something like DriverGrabber. Run it and it'll take all the drivers on the PC you're on and archive them into a folder for you. You can then point nLite to the folder using the multi folder option and it'll pick them all up. You can then be sure the drivers are right, since DriverGrabber takes drivers the PC is using, if the drivers weren't right, the drivers wouldn't be installed.

^^ wouldnt help him as he needs to the os on the server first :D

Also tried drivergrabber in the past with very mixed results.

The other guy who mentioned text mode, is probably spot on.
