Okay, whilst I'm assuming that NNIDs could be added to the 3DS post in the longer term, it may be useful to have an easy way to find NNIDs in the short term, so here's a thread.
The idea being, you make a single post stating your NNID, and then a list of the others you've added. It'll be easy to search the thread and find your own NNID again in others posts to see where there are gaps.
Please try not to reply with more than 1 post, and just edit your own post, as this will minimise the search requirements.
To add friends, or otherwise manage them:
go to the Miiverse and from 'User Menu' choose 'Search Users' and then under the found profile, you can send a Friend Request.
Also (as a second option, press the HOME button on the gamepad and tap the 'Friend List' icon.
You can also go into the Miiverse and the tap 'Notifications' and switch to the 'Received Friend Requests' tab.

It also seems to be a bit slower than other systems for updates - So far I only have Zarasi showing as linked - unless we're missing something: update - friend requests may work better.
(I've put the OcUK name afterwards, so this can be a quick reference for anyone else)
