Finally after many years my 360 Premium won't turn on, RROD :(

Been reading up on the towel trick and the xclamp.

Should I bother trying either or just start looking for a replacement ? Really wanted to play Black Ops tonight :p

towel trick - no. no no no no no. Spray yourself in the face with a water bottle, you are a bad cat.

xclamp - possible, depends how far your motherboard's flexed to be honest.

My recommendation is to sell it as damaged so some poor sap can try xclamping it, put that money towards buying a slim from your nearest supermarket as suggested.

I don't get all the hate for the towel trick - if it's already not working, the towel trick is hardly going to make it work less is it?

Someone care to explain?

I have a second xbox which I towel tricked about 18 months ago which is still working quite happily.

My original premium gave up last week after nearly 6 years. I just went and bought a 4gb slim. I already had a 250gb HD on my old xbox.

towel trick to get it to work for a few days and in that time trade it in.

it's what I did with my elite and luckily it worked when they tested it.

Really amazes me as to how unreliable consoles are in this generation, especially the 360.

I'm surprised 360 owners don't complain more. Sure, it's well out of warranty but there's nothing to be lost by phoning up and having a go tbh.

After all, it was just poor design that led to the RROD in the first place.

We did, about 2 years ago.

Since then Microsoft have updated the design of the original Xbox, and released the slim version which doesn't have the issues so the RROD isn't anywhere near as prevalent as it was.

Not as prevalent as 80710A06 anyway ;)

What about all those who dropped £££ on the more unreliable consoles? They seem to have just been left out in the cold, so to speak.

I think launch consoles within 3 months of the release date had infinite warranty on them.

Worth calling MS over.

Personally I'm suprised it's lasted as long as it has, go on treat yourself to a newer, better model. :D
