I bought the car last year and the AC was ok, but not great (ie it wasn't the coldest air coming out, but still adequate). The last week the I put the AC on and there is literally not even slightly cold air coming through, in fact its actually slightly warmer than when AC is turned off.

Is it likely that the system needs re-gassing? Or is it something more serious or electrical as there seems to be no output at all? Anything I can check myself?

Thanks for any suggestions

take it to halfords, they do a regas and if its not great they refund the cost iirc.

don't take it to Halford or kwickfit. All they will do is re gas it. Take it to a local aircon specialist for service. Then he can actually have a look, tell you what needs doing and get it fixed properly rather than you throwing your money down the drain feeding the car to a bunch of ideots.

That means the AC clutch isn't being pulled in for some reason, normally because the refridgerant pressure sensor is preventing it to protect the compressor from being damaged from being run when there is insufficent refrigerant in the system. as the other have said take it to quick fit and get them to top it up (you have got nothing to loose there, because you don't pay if it doesn't work)
