Hi all, got a bit of a strange issue occurring at the moment. We've recently just been upgraded from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 and everything on the whole has gone pretty smooth however for one niggling issue.

A couple of our users have reported that they no longer have their autocomplete lists when they compose an email (in Web Outlook or Outlook Client). This is isolated to only 2-3 users as i've tested with my own account and a few others and it is working fine for us.

Does anyone know how they may have become 'lost'? All accounts were copied across in the same way so im a bit confused as to how they have lost them in the migration.

This isn't an Outlook client issue/nk2 file issue though as these users use Outlook Web Access more than the Outlook client.

Been scratching my head on this for a few days and a google turned up some inconclusive articles from MS and few other places!

The autocomplete is basically the suggested contacts, is that actually populated or are they missing from there also?

Also it may be worth looking at a mailbox with MFCMAPI and see if it's in a hidden folder of some sorts.

I'll have a check see if there is anything in the suggested contacts but i'd be inclined to say there isn't.

I tested with one of the problem users yesterday and it was saving addresses to the autocomplete fine for future use, but didn't have any of her previous 6-7 years worth! (which isn't ideal really!)

Anyone any other ideaS?!

If you can't find them with mfcmapi then I doubt they were transfered over, my google-fu is coming up with nothing then I've run out of ideas, would it be possible to at least retrieve some for old nk2/.dat(I think) files with nk2edit?

How many users are you working with here? I feel your pain, people rely way too much on the autocomplete as contacts.

If that was me and depending on the severity of it I would:
1. use mfcmapi to see if there still in the exchange profile or NK2/dat's
2. post on a few more places (petri,experts exchange,ms)
3. If not too hard restore old backup to a test environment and export them.
4. pay £200 for MS to take a look, we used them for backup issues before and defiantly got our moneys worth.

I'll check out that MFCMAPI software later on, do I just run it on the new Exchange server and go from there?

We're only a small organisation - about 50 mailboxes max. I've only had 2 people report the problem to me though.

I tried to see if one of the users machine had a locally stored nk2 of all the details but it didnt sadly :(
