No. An ADSL router is not a hub

No question here, just a rant.

Don't you hate it when someone who needs a hub and can't find one decides the 4 ports on an old ADSL router he finds lying around will do, but he forgets to disable the DHCP service on it and plugs it into an 800+ user network.

Users on the network losing their valid IPs all morning to some rogue device dishing a useless 192.168.1.* IP. Not fun.

Plugging unauthorised kit into the network used to be a sackable offence here. It's been a while since I've been that close to things but I assume it's still the case.
 
Where I used to work it became so often done that this was included with the stock fault finding questions first asked.
