ive just installed a sapphire 7850 and all is well except i cant get any sound

ive used the dvi-vga adapter included as my t.v has 1x hdmi (used for xbox) and the gpu is connected to the t.v with a vga cable via dvi-vga adapter

the problem is i cant get any audio with an audio cable attached to the back of the motherboard in the line out and then into the t.v but it works if i connect it to the front headphone audio

the cable is working fine the audio panel shows it is receiving sound but it doesn't output any.

if this is a simple fix please tell me and then laugh :P

Have you checked the sound settings in windows control panel? There's a good chance that when you installed the gpu it became the default sound device.

ive sorted it now. and im going to tell you what happened so you can have a good laugh. iam laughing at myself tbh im such a tool

ok so i had everything setup and plugged in, i set the correct default output but it wouldnt work. i then looked at my speakers and they were switched off.

i hope a mod deletes this thread but i can understand if they dont, id want to laugh at somone who made a mistake like this

there is a joke goes like someone went all way through and disassembled his machine then realised the speaker was off.

So don't worry, you are still better than this guy.

I do this every time I build a PC.

"Gah why won't it turn on, FFS!!"

Then I remember it's because whilst I'm working on the PC, I turn off the rocker switch on the PSU, but leave the cable in to earth the case.
