No backlight - Acer 5920

The backlight seems to have failed in my laptop screen today - I can still see stuff on the screen under light but it doesn't light up.

It happened when it was about to turn off due to low power and then my dodgy charger decided it wanted to charge just as the power was going to cut out. The backlight hasn't worked since.

It's two years old so it's out of warranty if I'm not mistaken. Any idea if a new inverter will fix it or is the actual backlight knackered?

It's probably the inverter, faults of this kind usually are, but there's no way to be certain what's broken without actually opening the laptop up and trying a new screen or inverter.

Your best bet is probably to find the nearest laptop repair place and ask them to take a look.
