So my other half bought parts for her new PC, a nice core i5 760 based system which iv built, and im hoping to overclock asap.

Only problem i have is this worry about their not being a backplate supplied with the cooler (titan fenrir) for LGA1156 based motherboards, the motherboard being used is the GA-P55M-UD2 by Gigabyte.

So far the system has been fine and works perfectly, however im just worried about that unsupported weight on the PCB of the MB, when i take the side panel off and look through the motherboard tray backplate hole i can see the MB bending under the load, although i must admit its an ever so slight bend.

The method iv used to install it is as-per the documented instructions which came packaged with the titan fenrir cooler, so why am i still feeling a little edgy about it 0o ?.

I can only assume if the worst of the worst happened, aka total disater of motherboard being torn apart, possible cpu damage and other components inside case taking damage from the collapse of a heavy heatsink, that i would be in a position to claim damages from named cpu cooler manufacturer?

Any words of wisdom are most welsome.

The first time I mounted one of these monster coolers I got quite a fright when I saw some bend in the motherboard. The problem for me was I used to LAN quite a bit. I had a Tuniq Tower cooler, they had just come out - and in the end I just secured the top of the cooler with a thin piece of wire to the top of my case. Was not needed I am sure but I was paranoid as that was my first PC I had bought for myself. :D And really did not want to have anything happen to my DFi board. But unless you are going to be taking your PC without on the bus as often as I did then I do not think you need to worry.
