No BIOS beep?

Hi first post here, though I've been a lurker for a long time.

Just moved my build into a new case and something strange is happening. Every time i started my pc before i moved cases it would beep once on the bios (as far as i can remember that's a sign everything's working?). Since moving it into new case there is no beep at all, everything seems to be working fine, windows boots with my old user and all my hardware seems to working time I'm just not sure if something is wrong. Maybe i had something wrong before i re-installed everything and that's why it was beeping before? I have a gigabyte motherboard if that helps.

Any insight would be very helpful.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Did you connect the case speaker to the header on the motherboard?

Some cases don't come with a speaker as standard.

(same place were the Power led and power on switch is connected)

Hi i did connect the cable marked hd audio to the motherboard. I don't have any cables not being used so i will check that its connected correctly. I do get sound through speakers and headphones although I'm not sure if that's separate.

Yes, that is for audio for use whilst in Windows / operating systems and the HD Audio connects the front headphone jack, the BIOS speaker is separate from the main motherboard audio. This is usually a small speaker with two wires.

By the sound of things your case did not come with this speaker (no pun intended :D)

Yeah hd audio is plugged in correctly, my define r4 case doesnt seem to come with the motherboard speakers unless its gotten lost somewhere in the case, my old case has the small speaker cable for the header next to he power/reset led ect so thats the problem.

Ill go look for the cable but if its not there i suppose i shouldnt be worried if everything seems to be working fine.

You can always purchase one from a local shop or online retailer.

Might be worth checking the boxes as they are usually like the one in the link below:

I cant see it anywhere in the case or in the box. Would be nice if an owner could confirm if his/hers came without as well but its probably not worth bumping to take up a place on the front page that someone else could be using.

Another random question, when taking out gpu i cut my thumb earlier and i think i got some blood on it, that wont do it any hard will it?

See how you get on without the speaker :)

Your GPU will be fine, lost count amount of times I cut my finger doing pc builds!

Thank you RJC you have been very helpful.

Should i request to close this thread or just leave it alone.

Your welcome :)

Good question, a passing mod might read this and close, but otherwise let it run its course :p
