Got a machine just come into the workshop with something I don't know much about -

The machine boots, loads fresh OS install, runs ok, passed DFT and Memtest86 for 6 hours, but still randomly BSODs occasionally - I'm assuming that it's down to the fact that when the machine boots the only text that shows where you'd normally see "del to enter setup... etc" and "initializing" is "blah blah blah no BIOS installed!"

Does it need a new mobo? Or new BIOS chip? Or simply a BIOS update?

Thanks.

Maybe you need a new CMOS battery? I know on older machines it wouldn't save the BIOS settings and display a default date, but not sure if on that motherboard it can't see any of the BIOS?

Worth a try for the cost of a battery, i mean a CR2032 only costs about £2
