Hi,

Newbie here.

I have a Mitac 8317r notebook. Its an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 2GB ram and passes the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. However it blue screens after install due to the BIOS not being fully ACPI compliant. The vendor says there is no BIOS update for this issue. Is there any way around this? Either some aftermarket generic BIOS update or some kind of hack?

Thanks in advance

I think its highly unlikely that any hack can be found. Might be worth backing your stuff up and doing a clean install instead as doing an 'upgrade' causes problems for many people

If I try to install from boot it just hangs after 'Windows is loading files'. My plan was to upgrade then delete the old data.

I've just done a report and it says the BIOS supports ACPI:rolleyes:
