I'm hoping some of you guys might be able to shed some light on my router problem.

I'm with O2 broadband and have been running it for months with no problems, then about 4 or 5 days a go I lost connection to the internet. I tried all the obvious things like checking cables, filters, reseting router etc but with no joy. I phoned O2 support and they basically got me to do all the same checks while they did whatever they do at their end, but still no joy.

O2 have now replaced my router but that hasn't fixed the issue. Still no DSL or internet light. I tried my old netgear router and got the same problem. My understanding is, if there is a live broadband account on your telephone line then a router should get a DSL light with out having to do anything to it. I'm connecting straight to the BT master socket with all the other extensions removed so it can't be a wiring fault anywhere.

The only thing I can think of is O2 have screwed something up or turned me off, or BT have messed with something.

I'm going to phone O2 again tonight but I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.

If you're at the master socket and have tried a different router/cable/filter there isn't anything more you can do.

All sorted; it was a problem at the exchange.

I had to various routers, cables and filters before they would send a BT engineer so it took a while but got there in the end.
