No broadband for me :(

As said, BT aren't obliged to remove every DACS if it costs too much - and if a spare pair was available, it's more likely it would've been used (which makes ordering a new line unlikely to help). But it's still worth a shot - just make sure you go with an ISP with decent customer service staffed by people with a clue.

You can order a simultaneous provide with other ISPs too. Ofcom, equivalence, and all that.

Ah yes - indeed you can these days.
I know Nildram will do you a simultaneous line & adsl provide.
But just make sure it is the simultaneous connection you ask for - if you split the order then you could end up where you are now but with two DACS lines but £150 lighter in your pocket.

Cheers for the help guys, I've ordered a new line & broadband from Bulldog. Shame it's gonna cost £100, but at least I can tell BT to go jump :)

Should be a 16mb line come november aswell :D

i ordered with bulldog to be told 2 weeks later they couldent provide me with a line :( I was chaning ADSL providers and got sick of pipex messing me about waiting for mac codes, in the end when i cancelled and reordered it was only off for 2 days :p

Bulldog are still dependant upon BT to provide the line to your house so it is still possible that they will come back and say it can't be done.

If they had spare pairs I don't imagine they would have refused to de-DACS the line in the firstplace.

Let's hope it works out though.

Re the 16Mb do remember that it is dependant upon the capabilities of your actaual phone line so you may not actually reach that speed.

Any idea roughly how far away from the Exchange you are?
