No camera shutter sound

Recently the camera on my iPhone 7 refuses to make any sound at all when taking pictures. The phone is otherwise fine sound-wise. I've tried searching but all I can find is FAQs on how to disable the sound via the mute switch, which definitely isn't enabled.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is it in live photo mode? If you take a photo in normal mode does it make a noise?

This. On live photo it will not make the sound, turn of live photo and it will

Surely that's a good thing? Why any digital camera mimics the sound of a 35mm has always puzzled me
