What are the pros & cons of having a pc in the buff? I am considering doing this when I next upgrade.

Pros - Little cooler - Easy to swap stuff around - no cable management to worry about - save some money

Cons - Just imagine your cat going for a nap on it

- could spill something on it - Looks crap

I guess you mean no case at all by in the buff?

Cons - You have to get some buttons for power and reset.

I'd have thought that keeping it in a case would mean it's cooler as the fans are concentrating the air flow rather than it being spread out.

If your case is good and setup correctly then there are no benefits bar easy access.

If the case has decent setup fans, then by not having the side panels on they lose their focus and become useless. My v1000+ was such a case with +4 temperatures when I removed a side panel.

Depends on case and system, but it is not always cooler.

Looks a bit naff with the side panels off though, really like everything looking smart and tidy personally.

takes up more space on your desk/floor. towers are handy for saving space, keeping it all safe, organised etc
