I think he means patches for the physical non-Steam versions that have to be manually installed.

Yes, i bought the Anthology and was wondering if i could play the game without needing to run it from a disc.

Not sure what the status is here in regards to it or what the current legal status is if you actually own the game. There is a site out there but its a bit of a grey area. I have actually been directed there and/or sent the same files as hosted there by game publishers before when there was an unfixeable issue with their DRM. (iirc stalker: clear sky and mirrors edge).
