No Crossfire Bridge?

Just received all of my parts for my first build, including a Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3, an i5 2500k and 2 HD 5850s to run in crossfire.

However, I don't seem to have a crossfire bridge to run my GFX cards (do I need one?), I got an SLI one in the mobo box (can I use this? I doubt it ;)) and was just wondering whether I should have bought my own bridge, or whether it was in fact supposed to come either in the mobo or GFX card boxes?

Thanks

Crossfire bridges usually come with the cards. You can buy them separately easily enough though. You do need one.

You can't use the SLI bridge :D

ETA: Looks like a nice build :)

I thought I wouldn't be able to use the SLI one ;)

On the box of the GFX cards it says they have 'plug and play' crossfire support, which made me think that I may not need one. I guess I'll put them both in and see what the performace is like, if its obvious that they're not running in crossfire I'll buy a bridge.

Thanks for the help :)

you may not need one, i had to rma my second 9600gt a while ago and when i got it back the card that came back didnt have an sli connector, so i called them and they said it would work fine, and it did :D

however i do not know if this will be the same for crossfire :)

Won't work without the bridge :(

Plug and play means no faffing with drivers, just put in the second card with the bridge and away you go.

Disclaimer: I have been wrong before :D

A little clarification, sli can work with the bridge but performance suffers.

No idea about crossfire, never looked into it.

Edit, just googled it, lots of conflicting reports.

I've got one sitting here you can have if i can find my 5850 box, had planned on xfiring mine but ended up getting getting a mobo that doesn't support it. regretting it now, but hey ho!

That would be great, but only if you're sure you're not going to need it.

Can we send PM's on here? As it'd be easier to sort out through PM's if you could send me it :)

Not sure on crossfire, but with sli the performance hit without the bridge is miniscule. Lost count of the times ive forgot to put mine in place.

Found mine, but see you've picked one up already, may end up getting a new board soon!, only just got this about a week and a bit ago, and i'm missing the xfire option!
