Hi Guys,
I brought an ASUS Xonar DGX based on recommendations and tried to install it for the first time today. However, i've been immediately hit by a problem, and i'm stumped. The card uses PCI-E x1, of which my Gigabyte Z77 D3H has 3 (one is hidden by the graphics card though, which takes up two slots). So i initially put it in the first one, and on booting it up the computer appeared to boot ok, but nothing is displayed on the monitor - all the fans run, hard drives spin etc, but nothing on the display. This happens whatever PCI-E slot i try... if i remove the sound card, the computer boots like normal and with no problems, but as soon as i put it back in, it starts all over again.
I've tried putting the sound card in my brothers computer, which after one failed attempt did manage to boot into windows - this is as far as i went though, since I didn't want to go as far as removing his creative drivers for his sound card.
can anybody help me out? I'm extremely close to just sending it back for a refund.
many thanks!
