I've just rebuilt my system as the previous developed a motherboard fault.

I now have a P5Q Pro, E6600 core duo, 8800GTS and 4GB ram.

A few times I've powered the system up, fans spin up hard drive starts doing it's thing - but there's no display with monitors reporting no signal. The system sounds like it's booted and once setteld down the hard drive light flickers if keys pushed and a cd will spin up and appear to auto run with hard drive activity etc.

After a few reboots it's back to normal

Any body any ideas (I know it's a long shot given the symptoms). If the mobo is suspect I really need to think about returning it. If likely it's gfx card then I'll just get a new one.

Cheers.

Its tough, Id say it was probably the gfx, is there anyone you could borrow a card off of?

There's a chance it could be the RAM.

Might be worth buying the cheapest PCIe card you can just to check, then RMA the old one if it turns out to be the case.

Is the vid card seated correctly?

With the system powered off try pushing the front of the card and then the rear towards the mobo and see if it moves. You can also get a situation where if the front of the card where it screws into the case doesn't line up properly when the card is screwed in it lifts the rear of the card out of the PCI-E slot.

Long shot but worth checking. :)
