Hello people, this is going to be a bit long, but I really need some help before I kill myself. Two days ago, all the parts I ordered arrived and I started building the pc.
When I powered on the beast everything seemed to be working fine.
I installed windows vista ultimate x64, installed some motherboard drivers and such, and when I installed the drivers that came with the CD for the Sapphire 4780 and rebooted, I got that “atikmdag.sys” BSOD which annoyed me beyond limits..
Many people suggested upgrading BIOS, switching slots of the RAM or sounds card etc, so I decided to do that.

I upgraded to the latest bios successfully, I took out the graphics card, RAM, and the sound card, to follow those suggestions and see if it works.
Also I changed the timings on the RAM to 4-4-4-12 and voltage to 2.1v as those are the default values for the RAM.
After I put the RAM and the graphics card back, I do not get any image on the monitor; it just will not turn on.

So what have I done wrong? I have run totally out of ideas…

I put the jumper on clear and removed the battery, but still nothing.
Tried to put the graphics card in the other slot below, which did not work either…

I am ready to give up…

Specs:

Asus P5Q Pro
Q9550 – Lapped – AC Freezer Pro 7 (working @ stock on ~25C)
Corsair XMS2 DHX 6400 C4, 2x 2GB
Corsair TX750W
Sapphire 4870 1GB – AC Accelero S1 Rev. 2 (All ramsinks fitted nice and tight, no heating problems or whatsoever, wonderful temps)
WD6400AAKS 640GB

After several hours of testing individual hardware parts of my pc I found out that it won't boot up with 2 sticks or Ram on... like what the hell..

It boots up with No.1 or No.2 stick, on whichever slot, or both of them on Non-Dual slots.. but won't boot with both on black-black or yellow-yellow sighh... any ideas?

The only thing I can say is that the P5Q series of motherboards are *very* finicky with some ram, mine included.

just had a scan over the motherboards Qualified vendors list for memory in the manual, and it shows model CM2X1024-6400C4 to be listed, but not the 2gb version.
this may mean that the memory may not work in dual channel on this motherboard but i would check with asus/corsair.

I finally managed to get in BIOS, and after some resets and stuff, I am able now to run all 4gb's of it. Running @ 2.1v 4-4-4-12 at the moment, and the beast @ 3.4GHz, solid enough for now! (fingers crossed) :o
