Hey. Not sure how to describe this exactly, but in a nutshell... the monitor has been plugged in to the same socket for around 3 years now apart from the time I unplugged it (along with everything else) during a heavy thunderstorm which was around three months ago.
When I turned my PC on today the monitor didn't turn it's self on as it usually would - I had to press the switch manually, it turned on no problem but there was no display, none of the configuration buttons would do anything and I couldn't even press the power button again to turn it off.
I had noticed a sort of feint ticking noise when I went to bed the previous night so thought it could have been the monitor; bare in mind I'd never heard it doing this before.
Anyway, it was fixed by turning it off and on again at the wall...
Just curious, was it likely static? Anything else it could have been? And all in all what would cause it to happen and can I prevent it in the future?
