Scenario, I hit the sleep button before leaving for work in the morning, and power off the screen, but since adding a 2nd screen when I come home and hit the wake button all I get is a no signal message on both screens (the base unit still jumps into life).

Hardware;

Acer P193w 19" 1440x900 (vga)

Sapphire HD3450 256MB

^ woke up fine for past 2 years.

BenQ G2222HDL 24" 1920x1080 (DVI) < since adding this I've had the problem.

Using CCC 10.7, on Vista HP x64.

Have also tried with a HD4670 512MB and get the same result, acer on it's own wakes up fine, but no display if the BenQ's connected.

any ideas folks?

I'm not going to be much help but at least this will bump your problem to the top :).

I can barely recollect something regarding ATI drivers, multi screens and hibernation/sleep. As I only run a single screen and do not use hibernation then I'm not much use to you.

I hope someone can sort you out. Good luck.

I think it's a driver issue, try updating to the latest drivers to see if it still happens.

If you are going out and you aint using your pc for anything why put into sleep mode? Just shut down and reboot when you get in and save the almost pointless amount of electricity and not have the worry. Ive had so many systems over the years that do this and its easier to just wait till you upgrade and find a combo of hardware that works ok. The root cause is an ACPI bug of some kind I think but dont hold me to that.

Sleep mode doesn't use any electricity, or at least it uses so little that it'll never be noticable. I've put my PC in to sleep mode, unplugged it for a few hours while moving stuff about, then plugged it back in, and it booted back out of sleep mode and was how I left it.

Ive had similar problems in coming out of sleep mode since adding a second 5870, My PC jumps back into life but my two screens stay black.

I've found that the problem only occurs when I manually power down the monitors at the on/off button. If I leave them on when putting PC to sleep, they power up just fine when coming out of sleep mode.
