OK I have a really wierd problem, I'm stumped!!

I get no display at all with the internal sata hard drive plugged in, I have tried another hard drive, same problem.. :S:o .what gives?

I stripped the machine down to bare minimum but as soon as I plug the sata hard drive in, I get no display at all on screen, nothing..:o

Have reset the bios, tested memory, checked cables, onboard graphics, tried another power supply and changed sata cables..

My current board: Intel DG33FB

Any ideas?? :'(

Have you tried a different SATA port on the motherboard? How is the optical drive connected?

Sounds like your motherboard might have bit the dust.

Just reread the OP, and you haven't tried a different drive or that drive in another machine?
I'd say it is most likely the HDD that is shot and is stopping the POST process from completing.

EDIT
You have tried a different drive I see.
Mobo is probably the cause I reckon

EDIT2:
Can you lay your hands on a graphics card?

is it a SATA HDD or an IDE one with a SATA connector - only asking as I had this problem once when I was using a SATA-IDE convertor.

Once I disconnected that, everything worked.
