No divider - tight timings?

I currently have 2 x 512mb corsair PC3200 ram.

This is currently running @ 245  with no divider due to my 3700 being overclocked to 2.7ghz (245 x 11). Runs fine.

I am looking to upgrade to 2gb and looking to get 2 x 1gb sticks. I am really looking for something that i can just stick in and carry on running at the level without messing with dividers etc. Not overly fussy about really tight timings but would like some good stock stuff to bung in.

Happy with corsair and was considering the 2 x 1gb PC4000 corsair stuff (£152) as this should allow some good headroom for the overclocking etc.

Budget is about £150 + P&P

Any other suggestions before i buy?

Thanks - lot of chat about the OCZ (cas2 stuff) on this weeks special offer as this is really tight timings which would benefit the AMD. Not to bothered about that cause i really just need 2gb to make games run a bit smoother etc.

currently runningcorsair @ cas2.5 and timings of 3,3,7,12 which is really slack.

I put 2gig of that ocz in me pc a coupla days ago. runs 208 mhz @ 2-3-2-5-1t @ stock volts all day no probs (having primed for four hours) Really nice memory.

ok so now the G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) (MY-007-GS) is on this weeks special - is this worth considering???

Decided i couldn't wait and went with Corsair 2gb XMS3200 cas2 stuff.

It matched what i have in my system already in terms of same ram but hopefully should run without a divider!!!

If you want to hit 245, I really wouldn't have gone with that. Corsair only rate 2-3-3-6 @ 200mhz instead of most others 2-3-2-5 @ 200mhz. Less speed-binning = lower clocks usually. Only the good ZX and OCZ would hit 245mhz anyway, but chances are reduced with that. Then again, you can always run a divider but still, you have looser timings than you could have done so. I'd phone up and get the ZX or OCZ tbh.

ahh!!! - knew this would happen.

currently running very slack timings to get no divider!! Change for the ZX then - ok will take your word for it!!! Calling now!!!

I recommend that, and I also recommend using a divider. It will not impact on your performance negatively by running a divider and will allow you to keep the tightest timings possible as yet on a 2GB kit.

cheers for the info. Top man/woman (u never know!! :p )

Spoke to Phil on the sales line and order changed and should be with me tommorrow!!! Woohooo!!!!

Need to re-read the whole divider thing again, fine overclocking the cpu but the ram is a bit dodgy!!

Any suggestions - should i roll back the overclock and start a fresh? or just bung it in and see what happens!!

I say bung it in, set the timings to 2-3-2-5 1T and run a 166mhz (333mhz) divider. This ought to work (but make sure you test with memtest first ;)).

And it's man btw ;) :D.

ram has arrived - 10.30am - less that 12 hours from order to delivery!!!

How do they do that!! - Nice one - will advise on installation later!!

Good shout - stuck it in ran it as the settings above and primed for 90 mins no issues at all - won;t run 1:1 as the timings are nice and tight - thanks for the heads up - great ram!!!
