Hi,

I'm thinking about getting the AOC i2769Vm because i can purchase it from work for a heavy discount. However, when i look at the specs i notice it doesn't have a DVI port. Only HDMI, VGA & DisplayPort.

My graphics card has a HDMI port so should i just use that instead of a DVI cable ? Are there any problems with using HDMI instead of DVI ? I presume i'll still get the same performance out of games etc ?

Cheers.

No real issues, but be aware that some GPUs will automatically assume that anything attached to an HDMI port is a TV, and will send out video levels (16-235) over HDMI regardless of anything you do in the driver settings. For PC/desktop use you'll notice this as greyish blacks and dull whites, and you'll need a registry tweak which will enable full range (0-255) RGB over HDMI - an easy way to do it is with a utility such as this, or "madLevelsTweaker" bundled with the madVR renderer.

You could also bypass the problem by simply using the DVI output on your graphics card with an HDMI adapter - if you haven't got one they're only a couple of quid, although it's a bit annoying and shouldn't really be necessary.
