No fault claim - confused with insurance options

Posting on behalf of a mate who was rear-ended . Stationary at a junction, car went into back of them, admitted fault, dashcam footage etc.

I was crashed into by another party whilst stationary. The other party admitted full guilt for rear ending me and we exchanged details. I submitted a claim to my insurer, Admiral, who advised me that I am not at fault, and I agreed to go through their non-fault process through Auxillis. Auxillis contacted me and confirmed that they were able to provide a repair service at a local garage and a substitute vehicle for as long as I required. I agreed to look over the contract that evening and get back to them.

That afternoon, I was contacted by the other party's insurance firm, Ageas, who advised me that they will process the claim, provide the repair, courtesy car, and also a small compensation fee, if I went with them instead. They advised me that if I went with Auxillis, it is likely that they would overstate the claims, and I would be liable to cover those costs as per my agreement with Auxillis. They however, would not require signing of a credit agreement, and assured me that their services would never be of any cost to me.

Admiral have marked my claim as closed and passed to Auxillis, but the obvious choice seems to be to go with his insurer Ageas, and know that I won't be on the hook for any charges, but I am unsure about using this other firm who I have no prior agreement with, and people tend to respond with 'Don't talk to them!' when I say that the other party's insurer got in touch. Should I go with his insurer, or Auxillis?

Any thoughts? I've seen posts on here about exorbitant hire car charges at the end and not to go with claim management companies etc, but not been through this myself, mate would appreciate some real world advice.

Go with the third party insurer.

Auxilis will probably just result in a disputed claim coming his way (that the T&Cs will make his personal problem) in 6-12 months when they try to claim £1,000 per day for a hire car or something stupid and Ageas refuse to pay it.

Places like MoneySavingExpert are awash with horror stories from use of Auxilis, I wouldn't go anywhere near them personally.

Everyone uses the same repairers and hire car providers anyway. One just has a large markup and will try and get you into the most expensive car they think they can get away with.

Admiral have passed the claim on and will earn a referral fee if you go with Auxillis.

If you want Ageas not to increase their prices to cover these costs, then you know what to do.

The people that say, "don't talk to them", will also probably ask if you are sure your neck isn't in pain.

On a related note that I saw pop up in a 4 series owners group on Facebook last night - someone getting a 68 plate 420d repaired, has been provided with a 24 plate Mercedes S350d hire car (£100k+ worth?) supposedly being charged at nearly £500 per day, with ETA on the repair completion some time in October.

If that's through someone like Auxilis, he'll be in for a nasty surprise when the third party insurer refuse to shell out £10-15,000 for his courtesy car.

They gave me an M135i for the best part of a month. I think the bill was about 11 grand at the end.
Director is raking it in. According to Companies House he's the director of several claim management companies.
Also Auxiliis hand the court case over to solicitors who also fall under the same umbrella company. It's all seriously dodgy.

Aye always go via the other persons insurance

Claims management companies are ok to use a a "threat" if things are moving slowly, never to actually use.

Its no wonder car insurance is going up when they're allowed to back hand charge hundreds per day from other companies the same person owns of has an interest in
