As the title suggests...I sent my supposedly faulty ASUS Deluxe V2 back to where I bought it from...they tested it and said they found no fault.

however, they did find that one of the pins on the CPU socket was bent...I found that to be odd cos I really didnt notice this and didnt even think to look at said socket anyway. I merely explained what I had found and that the new P6T SE I got yesterday booted up with 6GB RAM with no problem.

Anyway, they charged me a total of £20 (tenner for realigning the pin and tenner for P+P). So I am getting it back next week.

At least now I have two X58 motherboards...hmmm I am tempted to buy another 920 now and another 6GB RAM...what do u think? :D hahaha...

I noticed its very easy to bend the pins inside the CPU socket by mistake. I've done it a couple of times when taking a cpu out and putting it back in.

Hey

Hey did you ever get this board working with 6GB of RAM? Im currently building my i7 system, I have 12GB of Dominator RAM and the P6t Deluxe V2, I am not looking forward to getting the same issue.

Has anybody else seen or had this issue and resolved it?

Thanks,

Why not, would make for a cheap 2nd system, or you could keep it spare for backup incase the other one goes then you wont have any downtime :)

That's good service if they fixed a bent pin for you. I just got told to sling it by a company when it mysteriously arrived with bent pins for RMA

Thanks,

I get the board back at some point this week. I may just test it and see if it recognises 6GB.

Yeah either buy new RAM and CPU to go with the V2 or just keep it spare but the former sounds tempting. :D

I think thats just wrong for them to do that. If u know u havent caused a problem with said pins then they should just sort it for u.

Yeah I was mighty ****** off by that. It was a P5K-E and it cost the best part of £100, said company said the warranty doesn't cover bent pins (as they claimed I did it) and then they sent it back to me for free lucky  I got £15 for it as sold as seen. As you can expect I'm never buying from them again.

I fixed my own bent pins but OCUK decided that it completely voided the warrenty.

DFI found that the pins were still making good contact, and repaired the original problem and its back here and working like a champ ever since.

I know it was my own fault for putting my finger on the socket after I had removed the board (was inspecting it for damage on the back) but it was still harsh.
