Wonder if this final confirmation of FF13 being a PS3 exclusive.

Square Enix has nothing in the works.

US, June 5, 2007 - Looking for more Final Fantasy following the Xbox 360 port of Final Fantasy XI? Then you're going to have to look to a different next generation system. A Square Enix executive has disclosed to Japan's Nikkei BP that the company currently has no plans for Final Fantasy games on the 360.
Noting that the PS3 is getting Final Fantasy XIII, the website asked Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto if the Wii or Xbox 360 will also be getting games in the series. "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production," replied Hashimoto. "As for FF on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."
Strong words from Hashimoto, although perhaps if everyone goes out and buys Last Remnant (that includes you!), Square Enix will have a change of heart.

Final Fantasy has been pretty awful since 8, even if it were still great it's only one game :\

Nah FF10 was the best IMO, FF7 was kinda like your first time with a JRPG lol. Actually i would put FF12 just after FF10 and FF7, not great story but i really enjoyed the new combat system and gambits.
 
All consoles have their exclusives. I never believed the stories of FF13 coming to the Xbox 360 any more than the Gears of War coming to the PS3 stories, Just stories cooked up by Fanboys most of the time.

1 more reason to own both consoles tho lol. I need an Xbox 360 for Fable 2 and PS3 for FF13 :D
 
Can't say I am really fussed tbh since I havent enjoyed a Final Fantasy game since the series went to the PS2. But sorry Square-Enixs' word means nothing to me anymore, they continue to milk Final Fantasy for all its worth and as a result the rest of their games suffer, I've lost all respect I ever had for them and in my eyes they are no better then EA.

Final Fantasy 7 - 12 have been hits as far as I'm aware?

Maybe not to the same standard as 7, but 7 did set the bar pretty high.

I agree square enix have made some mistakes, But only as far as X-2 and Final fantasy chronicles are concerned.

FF10 was brilliant, 11 has a massive fanbase, and i found it to be great, Although I got bored of it. And 12 the new one is once again great.

I guess it's down to preference obviously. But to say the games are suffering isnt true, maybe you don't like them. But thats down to you, not the game.

My take was that Square had been pretty ambiguous in past press releases but that X360 was getting some kind of Final Fantasy. Which I took as being some project other than FF13.

Guess nothing is happening now. Not really that fussed, never owned any FF titles.
 
I wish they would stop beating around the bush and start making a FF7 remake.

I'm pretty certain FF will come out for the 360 all he states in the is that nothing is confirmed or been worked on as yet, but how hard is it to convert a game from one system to another. End of the day Square is a company and unless Sony offers them lots of cash It would make no sense to turn down a very lucrative slice of the market.
 
Who cares, but I do have to say that 360 fans would make a big song and dance if they had said it was coming to 360 and how it was the final nail in the ps3 coffin, but I must re-iterate that who cares never played one ff game in my life.

Has been confirmed today that they are not doing a remake of FF7, at the moment. Think the quote was aslong as people asking about it it may at some point happen or not, but we have no plans at the moment.

You should definitely try out FF7 or FF8 or FFX on ps2. These are the only 3 I have played. I don;t think I have played any other Japanese RPGs ever but I enjoyed all 3 of these immensely. Sure I wasted well over 40 hours on each one. Worth getting one while there is a shortage of ps3 games.

You misunderstand, they do make other games besides Final Fantasy you know, I could have worded that last post better.

All they do now is release remakes and spin-offs of their past successes. There are plenty of games that never see the light of day over here because all they do is push Final Fantasy and because of that I never get to play games that I am really interested in playing and I cannot because of either 2 reasons:

1. It doesnt get localised in Europe (not so much of a problem since I can import, but then again why should I have to? since I then have to do something Illegal to get it to even run :rolleyes: )
2. It never leaves Japan (there is the language barrier which is the biggest issue for me)

And I never said I didnt enjoy Final Fantasy in the past, I loved FF4-FF9, FF10 was ok, and both X-2 and 12 are absolutly horrible. So thats why I couldnt give a monkeys if FF13 never made it to the 360 and when I do eventually get a PS3 and IF I decide to play FF13 it will be either:

Rented, Second-hand or bargain bin

The way I read it you've posted to poo-poo the OPs news because you're not interested in the FF series.

I'm sure some people are actually interested in the news and it's those people that the thread is directed at.

Unless I've read it wrong :confused:

Don't get me wrong it's interesting news but I was just giving my opinion like people do on these forums all the time. ;)
