....but yet it lies. Well it may do.

Am moving into a new build in December and am currently looking for what I can get tintyweb wise. All checkers on postcode only throw me up as only being able to get 7 Mb down, which strikes me as odd as the FTTC cab is sat on the corner of the new development and all checks on the exchange show FTTC as available (which it is as I am getting it now in a house less than 100m away from where I will be moving too.)

Is there any way of checking why it is not showing as available and if and when it will become available?

Also, if I have to go down the route of going backwards to ADSL, will I be stung for charges when I change to FTTC when it comes available?

All you can do is draw a rough estimate form houses near to it and on the same if not similar postcode.

Then hope and prey that BT are nice enough to connect those houses to that fibre cab.

If it's a new build house It will have FTTC, I had the same issue I'm 130m from my cab according to BT engineer, I get about 68/19.

When I first checked If I could get it it said NO. but the house didn't have a phone line yet. then 2 weeks later I did a search and Boom! sorted!

Just give it time I'm sure you'll end up with at least 70+/19

ooo to add another.

a lot of new builds are now currently getting FTTP installed according to the BT engineer who attended my house.

I'm getting quite annoyed by this myself. Moved into a new build 2 years ago! When the rest of the town already had fibre and all the other new developments have FTTC or FTTP and I'm still to this day stuck with ADSL. They need to hurry up and change the cabinet, but I doubt they will as they've just started building next to the cabinet. Maybe they'll change it when its complete.

We thought this in our new build house, fttc exchange sourounded by fttc cabs but oh no they connected our 149 properties estate onto some old alu cable cab and we all get 2 meg

I moved into a new build house in May this year, still haven't got a phone line. I have FTTP - the Openreach modem is installed and working (PON light constant = recognised by the exchange) however no one on either the internet including samknows and BT or even over the phone seem tobe able to sell me internet or even a phone.

BT are useless when it comes to new builds. OP what phase of the development are you? If you're phase 1 like me, good luck to you sir!

Still shows as 7 Mb for ADSL 2+.....

I really hope they do not do anything like that with ours....

I think we are in the second phase of the development as there are already a few houses on the site that are occupied (upwards of 10, but not sure of exact number)

Seems odd that they overlook something like this still....would have thought it would have been factored in along with the other services such as water, gas and sewers when they went in.

Just hope it works out ok.....

Shows exchange as CROWNHILL and served by Cab 44......SamKnows shows Fibre as available for that excahnge as it is true as that is the exchange I am connected to now (albeit through a different cab, No 3 in the current case.
