Hello :(

I've turned on my computer today to find that my games are all of a sudden not installed. but the games themselves are actually still on my hard drive when I go looking for the files in the steamapps location. How can I get Steam to recognize that the games are actually installed?

Thanks
Craig

I have had the exact same problem, haven't found a good work around yet. Just been installing the games and steam finds the files.

You can't since the games aren't installed.

Oh yeah :p. Will installing the games again not just notice the files are there and won't re-download them all?

If you just reinstall them on steam. It'll download any missing files, which as they're already downloaded will be none.

Just sounds like steam has lost it's list of what is and isn't installed. You won't actually need to download anything not already on your hard drive.

Ahh It's working. Really appreciate the quick responses <3
It takes a long time to 'discover' the files. 58 games to go... I've only just downloaded them all too as I rebooted my computer :/

you can try deleting/renaming clientregistry.blob in the steam folder, but it sounds like steam install in broken, or possible the hard drive is getting a bit unreliable - might be a good plan to back it up too if possible.
