No Gigabit Ethernet On Some Devices

Sky Q Router to Netgear managed gigabit switch. Double green lights on switch out ports indicating gigabit connections to all seven devices under the TV.

Of the three devices that have lights on their Ethernet ports, two have green and orange lights 10\100 conections, (Mut@nt51 4K Android Satellite Box, and Egreat 5 Media Player). The MyCloud EX2 Ultra has two green lights and operates at GB speed.

The cable from router to switch is Cat 5e. I have replaced all cables from switch to devices with new Cat 6 cables.

I have rebooted the router and still those two, (Mut@nt and Egreat) show 10\100 speeds.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

The model numbers don't match up perfectly with what I've found but they do seem to have gigabit interfaces on. However, they are very Chinese so I wouldn't be surprised if they've cheaped out on the magnetics or some other component.

OP, how long are the cables connecting the switch to these devices? Try using a longer cable, and/or turn off EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) on the affected ports.

It'll more than likely be 10/100 ports on the devices (regardless to what data sheets claim).

Have you tried a different port in the switch? A known working gigabit port in case the switch is having issues?

Do the devices themselves have a network setting where you could try force 1gb?
Unfortunately not

I've tried different ports and cables. The switch is new.

Do these cables work at 1gbps with the other devices?

Check they aren't those stupid 4 wire cables.

How long are the cables?

I've pulled the cable from the MyCloud that works at gigabit speed and tried it in both devices. No luck. They are 2m long.

I have also been on to the supplier to ask if there is a known issue, he says not. The switch is a managed one and came with a CD. I installed it. No difference.

Have you tried temporarily plugging the devices directly into the Sky Q Router?

Is not having a Gigabit connection causing any real issues? I wouldn't have thought so.

Work your way through stuff logically. Rule out cables, ports and anything else it could be. I think you may end up concluding your devices probably won’t be gigabit.

It probably won’t affect you but it would bug the hell out of me not being gigabit if it was meant to be.

Good idea to plug straight into router, I'll try that. I move large video files from the sat box to my main computer for editing then edited vids to my media player and MyCloud so Gigabit a big advantage.

Edit: These are the speeds I get.

Desktop to Sat Receiver: 40MB/s
Sat Receiver to desktop: 91MB/s

Desktop to Media Player: 64MB/s
Media Player to desktop: 70BB/s

MyCloud Storage: 100MB/s both ways.

These speeds are acceptable and I think I'll just stop worrying about it. Those yellow lights are still bugging me though.
