So I stuck a EVGA Hybrid kit on my Titan X Pascal, and now I get no display. Something I've done wrong or broke no doubt. My MSI Gaming 7 X99 motherboard displays "6F" on the LED and gets stuck there. I've put the original cooler back on and still nothing.
Any ideas?

Will Nvidia RMA it knowing I've been in it?

Did you use a proper socket to undo the 4mm bolts?

It is very easy to damage something if you use pliers like some tech sites have suggested.

No I used a small adjustable spanner (on it's end not side), though I was careful may have knocked something?

Possibly although my 1080's I used an adjustable spanner aswell.

Problem is as kaap says there are quite a few tiny caps around each bolt so it's very easy to knock something off without the correct socket.

I'd start by stripping the card and inspect the board just make sure everything looks good

If it all looks good. I'd then re-install with as little as possible (1 RAM stick etc), clear cmos, possibly reflash bios and try again as 6F on most boards is not the gpu.

Checked the board, there's a couple of marks but I've not knocked anything off, I've done this in the past a couple of times before without an issue. Each time I swap ram around I end up with a different number in the LED, now with all 4 sticks back as they were I don't even get 6F anymore.

MSI Gaming 7 X99 motherboard
Its this ******* motherboard mate !!! Its crap...
I had F9 for many reasons. On GOOD CARD. Move it to second slot do cmos reset . ECT I'm 101% sure its this **** motherboard that packed up on me 3 times and 4th one i sold to not watch that MSI Junk.

Try backup bios.
Im sure Main bios got fried !!!! Thats 6F. In general when this board packs up displays all sorts of stupid codes each time you try to boot up.

Must admit I'm on my second board and I had a memory problem where it wouldn't boot about 2 months ago, but I got display last time round, swapping the sticks around randomly and it posted and worked ever since.

Well You will be on 3rd board soon. This board is worst junk i came across in my years of building pcs. Even ECS and ABIT ware better was my first and last MSI motherboard.

Take GPU to anyone i bet its fine. I had problems even when taking gpu out and putting it back in without even doing anything with it !!! No display jungling around PCIe slots to get display back ect.

I have 2 uneven pieces of a replacement Abit kT7xx Raid motherboard, on my shelves (modern art now), that would contest this. :D

Although that MSI does sound it would give the ABIT sanity check a run for its money.

According to the manual when it stopped at 6F it was doing "Late North Bridge initialisation" with the next step being "Late South Bridge Initialisation". So points to CPU, RAM or PCIE Express initialisation. Also deals with Integrated GPU has that become enabled ? Does PC boot without the GPU ? Also looking at motherboard manual just above the SATA connectors there are two LEDS telling you whether BIOS A or BIOS B is in use. Doesn't seem to check GPU until it gets to debug codes 97,98,99,B2,D5~D7

Your username is 'Born 2 Kill 83' and you've killed your video card..............perhaps you should ask a mod to change you name to 'Born to Fix 83' and see what happens?

Alternatively while you wait for a mod to give you a new username try your video card in another PC and take out the CMOS battery from your motherboard for 10mins and put it back in. I often find doing this fixes issues like no display on boot. Also try booting with your monitor switched completely off i.e. not left on standby mode, once your PC boots after 3/4 seconds turn you screen on.

Thanks for the replies, snapped up a £10 graphics card off facebook and banged it in, fired up fine, so deffo killed my own card somehow. I have claimed accidental damage under my house insurance I have my PC insured on there for £4k. So returning it to them to inspect tomorrow. I have since bought a 4mm socket so hopefully will have better luck when the new one comes.

I recently had a similar situation installing the cooler onto one of my Titan Xp's.

I accidentally wiped off some of the thermal paste pushing it through the cable slot of my case and forgot to reapply (yes, stupid!) and long story short resulted in a fried chip once I'd booted up a game.

I tried my luck and got an IT company I use to put together a diagnostic report and being totally honest in what happened and my insurance paid out.

I bought another card (and a precision toolkit to further reduce any risk), did the conversion (with my heart pounding) and thankfully worked out fine.

Back to a working SLI setup with a much cooler top card.

Good luck with the insurance.

Ouch, what type of spanner do you need to undo some of the screws? I was toying with the idea of putting an aio on my xp but seems like nvidia are making it awkward to do.

You need a 4mm socket. It's not so much what nvidia have done its more so there are caps in the local vicinity of the screws.

A lot of waterblock instructions said to use pliers which as kaap said some people did and damaged their cards.

I've done my 1080's and Ti's using a 4mm socket and it's not any more difficult over prev gen cards.
