No GT5 until 2009...!!!

an opportunity to actually do an official videogame of the race series, Ferrari Challenge, and follow on from what SEGA had done,

think you can see the big differences between what we've done with Ferrari Challenge and what SEGA had initially done. I mean, SEGA's 355 Challenge game was a real milestone race game when it came out in the arcades, but the first thing that we learnt was that people either loved it or hated it, and it was too sim-based.

boo its gonna suck :( next!

T'would be awesome. :)
I aint holding out on high hopes for this title. I feel it will be a run of the mill racer, not great in any particular way but resonably good at best, besides too arcadey i reckon.

Mr JRS
As for GT5, us that imported/downloaded the Jap version, id like to point out a few things:
Please take note ive put in over 300 hours on the game.

1) The AI starts off a bit pants i very harshly criticised the Suzuka Jap demo for its terible AI on these forums. However it gets a lot harder when you reach the later challenges in Prolouge. It offers very good racing speeds and will overtake you if you make a mistake, thats rare in many console racers. It is however still foul to certain weaknesses and flaws yet but the opinion of my self and several others on AVF think its by far the best in the series and quite possibly on any console racer.

2) Handling on GT5 is far superior to other GT games, the wheel makes it much much more fun with very enjoyable FFB strength on the G25. Once again my opinion but its also the best handling and most precise handling console racer ive ever played.

3)Biased? GT Lover, well no im a lover of racing games period. Prior to this i would have agreed that F355 technically from a simulation point of few still was an old favourite. The tracks however in GT5 are also much more realistic even compared to FM2 which i discovered has major problem in the length/viewing distance with its funny viewpoint compared to GT5.
(I compared suzuka on both)

Real Life Suzuka Vs GT5 Comparison
Whats very good is the inclines, corner angles all seem very accurate

5th pic down in that compare is not quite right imo still looks a good effort but in f355 I remember some great inclines on some of the unlockable tracks.

Just been playing Fm2 again, handling is still not exceeding gt4. When I brake hard the back end isnt coming round, squirming, nothing just some very good brake lock up simulation but shame about weight & feel of the car on that aspect.
If gt5 builds on gt4 in this way it'll be great, the rest is candy

Sorry if that was a bit harsh. I was a bit half cut when I got in the from pub in the wee hours. ;)

Not that harsh really to be honest and by the sounds of it GT5 is shaping up to be the most realistic yet in the series , i would agree though that pc gamers still see the best racing sims .

Well i hope the handling on GT5 is nothing like GT4 because it was nowhere near realistic.

Every time I mention that gt4 had good handling people disagree to which I then ask did you turn all the driving aids off each time you bought a car. If you didnt then I agree the cars understeer and were generally crap but if you did the physics were brilliant for a console game.

I hope they carry on in the same direction anyway and make the game even more involving :)

GT HD used GT4 physics
Some of us on AVF tested HD to GT5P regards that track and its a major difference in GT5P regards handling, feedback and although i wouldnt call it realisim id say much more responsive and better precision.

The car bassically (certainly with G25) talks better to you in whats happening and your response/actions seem to be understood better with the physics.
I cant emphasise enough that this game deserves some kind of wheel purchase.

I really don't have the money lying around for any half decent wheel tho, surely it must be enjoyable with the analogue sticks too?

Regarding the Wheel, I agree, for me it's totally transformed some games, the big surprise was TDU, I may be alone on this of course..

IMO, You just don't experience the full immersion of racing games unless you use the wheel.

I'm just waiting for the alledged dual version G25 so that I can enjoy it on the 360 and PS3/PC, and one of the reasons I'm holding off on GT5:P until UK release, you never know Logitech may come through on their promises by then..

Just a quick question, in the feel/physics department how far out of touch is FM2 to GT5P in the physics department?, I really like the majority of the FM2 physics , and judging by some comments on here, GT5P is another step up again, I'm just about to put some more time into FM2 due to losing my save game, but if it's massively off the ball, I'll give it a miss and just wait for GT5P

I don't think the physics in GT5p are as advanced as FM2.

FM2 was a game i had waited ages for, bought the X360 wheel for it and the racing seat. Unfortunately at the time it came out i was busy with the business and then had holidays. I actually found myself spending more time with the paint editor and never really gave the game enough attention particulary online. By the time i was looking to play it more PGR4 appeared and well i loved that too.

The 360 wheel isnt a patch on the G25 and tbh even the new GT4 wheel that logitech announced isnt as good as their own G25 product but it is an improvement over the original GT Pro wheel.

The G25 uses much better pedals but its biggest benifit is the dual motor FFB which is very powerful and also much smoother from lock-lock. Someone else may be able to do a better comparison but a track like suzuka would be ideal to test both on with the same car in each.

I will say that GT5P is more fun to drive and more rewarding but part of that could be down to the two wheels but also take into account upto 16 player races is more fun than the typical 8 too from a good race perspective.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Gran Turismo, whilst being one of the greatest series ever made, is the biggest money rinsing enterprise going.

GT PSP that was never ever going to be released - just hyped to sell PSP's, concept games that serve no purpose other than to rinse money for a work in progress game. No doubt you'll have to buy half the game on the PS3 Network anyhow.

Don't get me wrong, I love the GT games but utterly, utterly hate the way they financially rape you in a blatantly obvious way and dont even try to hide it.

Though I dont believe in it, This is one game I would be tempted to pirate purely on the principal.
