Turned on pc this morning and it ran through some disk repairs before booting.
Went past login screen as usual, windows background screen loaded and that's as far as it's got.No icons and start menu not responding.
Tried to boot into safe mode with F8 but that just takes me into the bios.

I have a vague recollection of windows updating when I turned the machine off yesterday.
I don't have a Windows 10 disc.

What do I do now ?

Keep powering it off by holding down the on/off button
After 3 or 4 times it should force recovery options to appear
Getting the blank desktop stuff here too
Though only if I leave pc on but idle for a while
Very frustrating

I had tried that but I don't think I tried enough times or didn't leave it long enough but anyway got in.....windows attempted repairs, didn't work.I uninstalled quality update, didn't work....it wouldn't let me uninstall feature updates.
Finally I did a system restore.....there were 2 programs that would roll back,Opera and Adobe, may be 1 of these was causing the problem ?
Now it's loaded and working....for how long I don't know lol
Cheers mate

Pretty likely to have been caused by a windows update
Their updates lately have caused all sorts of issues
Luckily I have image backups
3 minutes to load one
