No IDE on new mobo

Anyone give me an idea what I can do? I have a new motherboard, to replace a faulty one that won't boot, new mobo is a Socket 1155 Gigabyte UD3. Previous one that is faulty is an MSI GD53.

Now I have it all booting up OK etc, I can't do anything because I can't install the mobo drivers etc. I have a CD drive that uses IDE but no IDE port on the mobo.

Anyone have any ideas or do I need to get a new SATA cd drive?

Thanks :)

Yes, I have done this in the past, what operating system are you using.

Edit: seen your replies :)

Buy a converter like the one below:

Thanks a lot RJC, typing from new PC. Its been 2 weeks. Time for some gaming time :)

Saved me getting killed by my missus as well for buying yet more PC parts. Thankfully I won't need it just yet which means I shouldnt get brutally murdered by partner for spending more pennies!

No probs, enjoy your new pc :)

You could always order one and not tell her! :D

Ive already spent £400 in the last week, I think that might be pushing it mate. It may arise suspicion (sp?) if I order another GPU for SLI/Crossfire though! Maybe leave that for a few months...
:D

For that price you could be buying them to build a little tin house! Seriously tho, my wife kicked off about me spending £1200 on my new PC recently and I still managed to buy my ticket to summer lan at newbury without much complaining from her, albeit, she didn't have much choice, but I baffle her with reasoning!

To be honest you won't really miss the DVD drive if you're not going to be loading tons of music or something onto your PC. I don't even bother installing one any more, I have a USB DVD drive, which I share between my laptop and my gaming PC.

Wish I had access to a USB dvd drive, bought a drive for my new machine just to install the operating system.... now it won't be used again.
perhaps I should have looked for a way to install over USB.....

Could have just bought a USB drive instead of a sata drive?
