I just brought a new system.

6850 c2d
8800 GTX
2GIG OCZ ram

I was wondering if there's any programs out there that overclock for you that are safe or will it need doing manually? I dont need nothing special just a little extra performace.

Any help would be great.

better off doing it manually in bios. it's a bit daunting at first but not too difficult once you get your head round it.

there's a good guide at the top of this forum section.

I got the MSI P35 Neo2 FR board.

Read the guide but little unsure about doing it myself hence asking about software, more easy nooby ways.

random - for the gpu use nvidia ntune
but for the cpu just fix the pcie bus and up the fsb by 10% - very quick and dirty but you should do it easily.. I would recommend just reading up though m8.. I have a c2d 6300 at 3ghz default is 1.8ghz which is by no means a spectacular clock but it is a healthy gain. But you need to understand what you are doing and the only way to do this is by reading. There are some goiod guides on xtremesystems.org

It is a spectacular clock! That's like 65% more performance. It's just C2Ds clock so easily it's not a spectacular clock compared to what other people have clocked them to.

Seriously, overclocking isn't that hard. Search google for information on your bios and there'll be lots of resources on what exactly to turn off and lock. If you run into any specific issues this place will offer loads of help (make sure you can get to the internet via a different PC).

What worrys me more than anything is just breaking it >.< Is there a limit that like a 6850 can be clocked too safely ? same with the 8800GTX. I dont want massive increase's but CPU to like 3.4?

If it goes to far can it be reversed and if so how ?

sky's the limit really m8 - if you go in small increases and stress test along the way you will be fine.. I haven't bust a cpu yet m8... bust plenty of graphics cards but that is with being stupid and trying to fit waterblocks when drunk.
