No idea what's causing my issue

So for a while I was dealing with a rig that would only accept memory in single channel which I accepted and frankly couldn't be bothered dealing with.

But on Friday after my Pc wouldn't boot it appeared that one of my RAM sticks was faulty and my Pc would only boot with the one. So obviously I was straight on OC and ordered a brand new set on daily deal at an eye watering 2666mhz speed.

However, after installing the ram my Pc would once again NOT boot. Every combination in every slot and even one stick would not get my stubborn machine to boot.

SO I reinstalled my old ram into the slot which it had been working prior and still no boot.


I am at a loss to what is causing the problem and can only assume it's the motherboard, cpu or a combination of the two.

Anybody has similar issues or can I get any expert help on this?
 
During the course of my work I'll see a few AMD processors a month with damaged IMCs through overclocking. I've yet to see a blown IMC on an intel chip tho.
In my mind chances are it's the mobo.
 
which slot isn't it booting from? test each stick and slot one at a time till you find the faulty ram slot or stick

usually faulty ram slots are caused by bent cpu socket pins/overtightened cpu cooler or the motherboard bending/flexing due to pressing down on it

before you do all that be sure to run the latest bios as that might help
 
bent pins are the cause for sure,can pull them back into place with a big magnifying glass and a fine sewing needle,but take care as they can fatigue and snap off without warning,then the boards no good and cannot be rma'd

EDIT: gigabyte will accept bent pins rma though so upto you if you wanna risk messing or not

try it anyway,see if it boots

fingers crossed its a redundant/unused pin

im running an asus board with one missing pin,no issues at all
