could anyone tell me why when i start my pc up the screen says no input signal then jsut turns blank. the pc was working fine until it crashed then when i restarted it this happened. i have taken my graphics card out and put it back in to make sure it is in properly. if anyone has any idea why this is happening please tell me. thanks for the help

Yea it does sound like a dodgy graphics card. Try your graphics card in your brothers PC and vice versa to try to establish the problem.

right i changed my GFX card with my brothers and mine wouldnt work on my brothers pc but his didnot work on mine also. but my brother GFX card works on his pc? think i need to buy a new GFX card?

Do you see the machine boot up to a point and then it goes blank? I.E. do you see it progress through post/bios then onto the Windows boot screen. Or does it never turn on?

Just trying to rule out that it isnt a resolution issue not trying to insult ya. Sometimes if it crashes in a game it sticks at that resolution you see :)

Is there any BIOS beeps with AND without the card installed?
Is the fan on the card spinning? (giving a fair indication of it receiving power)
If equipped try the other DVI-out slot on the GFX card :)
Try your brothers monitor too.

Hope this helps a wee bit
Cheers

no the monitor jsut stays blank it does not start booting up, there are no beeps,i tryed my brothers monitor and that also did notwork with my GFX card and the fan does spin on the GFX card and ther eis no other slot idont think.

i have ordered a new GFX card anyways i had a feeling it was on its way out but couldit be the psu?

thanks for the help btw

What 2 models of cards are you using to, if you're using models that require different drivers, you could well find a working card won't boot in the PC either.

Yep, drivers only needed once you boot into Windows, even then you don't actually "need" drivers, since Windows includes basic VGA drivers.

From boot up to Windows loading your in a basic VGA mode initiated by the BIOS, not the OS.

You'd think so, but i've had pc's do that.

How about the actual cards themselves, do either have dual vga connectors?.... and if so, have you tried the other port?......

Did you clear cmos after swapping cards?.... this can help sometimes....
