I trying to sort it out but without luck. When I'm playing Witcher the monitor goes black with above message, the sounds still plays but after 10seconds computer hangs and only reset is helping. I don't have problem with other games, I have up to date drivers and directx. Can somebody help.

Card couuld be overheating, try to up your fan speed or lower overclock if you have one.
I have also a Gigabyte 8800GT overclocked by them and it sometimes happens especialy in TDU.

Thanks for that, not sure if this happens because of heat. The core of the card is beetwen 60-75 C when this happens so still reasonable temp for this card. Maybe memory overheating but I can't check that with this card. Strangly Witcher is only game I have problem with. Recently I've played Fallout 3, Dead Space and Far Cry 2 without any probs and these are quite demanding games as well.

It always open fine and I'm able to play sometimes even for 2hours but sometimes it only take 5 minutes to turn screen black and hang.

Oh right. Not sure then.
Have you tried turning off all unnecessary things like firewall and anti virus? It may be something in the background dying and causing the crash.

I've had this before, I think it must be overheating. I used to get it constantly with the DoW 2 beta but I also got it with World In Conflict yesterday.

Download HWMonitor and run it to get a Temperature reading of your graphics card.

Then go and download RivaTuner and modify your graphic cards Fan speed so that it runs at 100% speed and not 30%

Then try the game. The extra speed might cool your card enough to allow you to play without any problems

having trouble to setup fan on 100% in riva tuner, there is a problem as program claims that fan speed is 0, don't know if this is normal

What step in the guide do you get to when it starts to deviate? It doesn't sound right that it records it as 0.

I've setup the 100% fan control on an 8800gt without any problems and doubt the different brand would cause problems so i'm wondering if there has been a missed setting.

ok, when I'm following the guide I'm able to change fan duty cycle but not fan speed RPM. There is no change in temps no matter what I will set.

Is there a way to do this with an ATI card?

Riva Tuner supports ATI too:

The site says

* Any desktop display adapter based on NVIDIA GeForce or ATI Radeon grarphics card. Mobile solutions are not supported.

Note: RivaTuner doesn't declare official support for mobile graphics processors and multi-GPU SLI and Crossfire configurations. Proper functionality on such systems is not guaranteed, use RivaTuner at your own risk.

* Detonator 2.08 or higher NVIDIA reference drivers for Windows 98 / Windows 98 SE or Windows ME.
* Detonator 5.08 or higher NVIDIA reference drivers for Windows 2000 / Windows XP.
* ForceWare 96.xx or higher NVIDIA reference drivers for Vista.

Method is probably the same too.

That's the only thing I changed myself the Fan duty Cycle and it reduced my temp quite a bit.

see if there is any change after a few minutes. Also can you hear the fan increase in speed when you modify the values?
