Hi Guys,

I have been having this problem with my unibody since the get go i think, may of been after installing Vista via boot camp but unsure anyway.

Everytime i start my Unibody up it can probably take up to or around 20 seconds for the mac startup chime to happen, it varies all the time! Contrasting this to my ol' faithful 17" which chimes almost instantaneously to when i press the on button.

I have changed the startup volume to Mac OS X and cleared the PRAM with option+command+p+r to no avail.

One thing i'm a bit miffed about is that whenever i do a restart after setting the startup volume and then come back to the startup volume in system pref the OS X volume is not highlighted again!? Even though i just highlighted it before the restart or startup!? This also happens in the Vista boot!?

I think there is a software issue going on here, it seems as though this Unibody needs a load of updated drivers and it's starting to annoy me immensely!

GET SOME UPDATED VIDEO DRIVERS APPLE! ALSO GET SOME UPDATED BOOT CAMP DRIVERS!!!!

Anyone have any clues!?

Cheers,

Josh

your macbook is faulty and you should get it repair.
this isnt OS X software related because normally mac will still chime at startup without harddrive inside the macbook.

It's not faulty, i really can't think why it would be faulty. It hasn't shown any sign of any hiccups and has been a great little trooper besides this little annoyance.

This used to happen on my 17" aswell before i set a proper startup disk. It just seems on this MBP it doesn't like to keep a set startup disc. :(
