every time I go to switch on my PC I get the orange triangle symbol next to the network icon in the taskbar (windows 8). It says no internet access, but can still see the router
I need to restart the router to rectify this
does that sound like a problem with the pc or the router
the wireless works on the router all the time so thinking it must be the pc or something to do with windows

I've had this too or similar, it sometimes causes bsod with a message about a driver power state issue. I think if it has a certain problem with my wireless adapter it disables the network connection. I go into control panel, network settings until I see my network connections and usually see that my wireless one is disabled and have to right click, choose enable and that sorts it until the next time.

Update your Ethernet (and wireless) drivers.

Get them from who ever makes the chipset for the adapter and not the motherboard maker's websit, they'll be newer.
