Following on from my issue yesterday where my in-laws' desktop would not connect via ethernet to their new router, there is now a problem with their new laptop.
It was working fine yesterday afternoon when the wireless connection dropped out. It could still see and connect to the router, but it had no internet access. At the same time, my laptop and Android phone had no issues, and continue to have no issues.
I spent an hour on the phone to Pipex, the DSL provider, with no luck. What's really odd is that the laptop won't see the router at all when plugged in via ethernet. I have no issues plugging in the same way with my laptop.
I tried tethering the laptops to my phone - mine works fine, my in-laws does not.
We've tried all manner of fault-finding and trouble-shooting, to no avail.
Any ideas as to why two machines would go down, but not others? No router of PC settings were changed at any point prior to things falling over. The desktop had worked fine on a wired connection to a USB ADSL modem, prior to them upgrading to the current Thompson DG585v8 when they bought their laptop a couple of months ago.
