I didn't even bother replying as it's the first thing we did. Obviously.

We have contacted BT, apparently they were doing work in the area yesterday. We've restarted everything that we could here. But our server may need remote authentication in order to boot, so with intermittent access to the internet, it's not able to.
 
Sounds like someone should ask the management how much money they are losing by not having dedicated on site support.
 
I'm not sure why people use their work's machines for accessing their FB and OcUK / other forum accounts? Surely this leaves an audit trail for the IT and HR bods, outing yourself if your employer are looking for reasons to sack you. If you want to use FB during work time, then use your phone on your own 3G/4G connection, not via your work's wifi (as that can out you too!). Then you leave no trace, except for the obvious FBI / GCHQ / NSA bods.

If they have to go to that level to find the final straw to kick me out the door then it's time to leave anyway.

My thoughts too. I don't use FB at work on my machine, do via wifi but don't think they'd be able to trace it. Hell, I'm not sure they're capable of very much other than "we can't ping it" and "turn it off and on again".
 
They have blocked it so office staff do some work that's what you are paid to do not update your Facebook..

Always amazes me how quick people phone to say email or Internet is down
