My friend has no internet connection at home all of a sudden. I had a look at it and here are the symptoms:

1. Browser says page cannot be displayed(Cannot get out onto the internet)
2. Wi-Fi or direct cable not working.
3. Both devices pick up an IP address and can ping each other ok.
4. Reset router back to factory setting and still the same issue (Netgear router)
5. Tried another router and still same issues.

She is with talk talk i think but wants to move to BT now.

Anyone any advice please??

Cheers

Is the router establishing an Internet connection?

What are the router stats?

Depending on your ISP resetting to factory settings may have lost your ISP username and password.

Yea it says it connected at 100Mbps.

Thats one thing i forgot to do was re-enter username and password provided by ISP!! But then why would it stop working before i reset the router??

That's your LAN connection, not Internet.

Routers sometimes go funny and lock up. Could be a line issue. Could be a ISP system issue. Could be a lot of things.

Router stats are the figures that describe your line attenuation, noise margin, connection time etc.

Thanks for the info and advice:) My friend has ordered a new broadband package with BT so will see what it is like when that is installed.

Thanks again :)
