No internet - router gone weird

Have a TP-Link WD8968 and it's just stopped. No DSL light, nothing but the power light and the light that shows the network cable to the PC. I try to open the control panel and get this.

This makes no sense as I bought the router and if I try to apply a firmware update from TP link it says it's illegal files.

What do? I can't do anything without internet

can you try a factory reset on it or try a older firmware file from TP link

Are you sure you have the firmware file for the correct version of the hardware? According to TP Link they are on v5 now.

It’s detected corrupt firmware and gone into recovery mode. You either need to turn it off and back on, get the firmware file and reflash or buy a new router.

mid it doesn’t want to work after a reboot or reflash that’s it. Broken.
