Just finished the win 7 home premium upgrade. My router is fine as I am posting this from my iPhone over wifi, windows 7 says I have Internet connection but I can't browse, any have some advice?

Open a Command Prompt and enter ipconfig /all Paste it in here. Put some

tags around it too - easier to read.

It's done it again. I typed ipconfig / all and noticed it's not being assigned an ip. So I have it one this time and still no joy.

Wish I had never upgraded now. How can I go from working perfectly to not working perfectly.

Anyone else have issues? Or know why this is happening?

Try setting a static IP address rather than using DHCP (automatic).

Check for any errors in the event viewer (click start and type eventvwr)

is there an update youve done for internet only my son had same problem couldnt get on after a windows update turned out to be a network update

He updated to Windows 7... pretty comprehensive update right there! :p

Do as Pho suggests - set a Static IP address and see if it stays connected.

Tried this and tried dhcp , the card is getting an address, but the network connectivity is showing my pc to the routet is fine but it does no go any further I.e no browsing.

It has worked once since I have upgraded, and that seemed to
be more by luck than anything else

I read on the www others have had this issue burning am unsure how to resolve

So you can access your router correctly?

What happens if you ping google.com from your computer? Now try pinging 209.85.227.105. Do you get a reply from either?

That's an interesting one and one I also thought off when I went to bed. I checked it this morning before work and I am sure it was ticked to manual with no address.

I'm any case I changed the DNS to that of my ISP (I did not reboot) and still no joy.

Do I need to reboot for the dns settings to take place?

Any other ideas, this is really starting to annoy me now

thanks for the help so far

You can also try using 8.8.8.8 as the alternative DNS address - this is one of Google's DNS servers - just to help rule out DNS issues your ISP may be having.

Just got home and tried everything. I can see router , router see's Internet but my windows 7 machine does not. Back to sqaure one.

Any suggestions? How about trying to update the nic driver?
