No Joy With 2500k

No I havn't tried with a lower offset, I got to +0.030 and it work so left it there do you
think I should try to lower it to +0.025 and see if it still stays stable which will also give me
slightly lower temps as well.

Im at +0.020 stress test on Prime and still stable at temps are:

Core1 57
Core2 59
Core3 61
Core4 57

Voltage in CPU-Z is 1.352v and stable.

That means I gotta try +0.015 now lol.

UPDATE: Now @ +0.015 Offset and still stable and temps dropped rapidly to
mid 50's on full stress test. Volts on CPU-Z @ 1.344v highest.
Gonna leave at this now happy with temps and very very happy with speed and
stability of it. I can see why 8Pack likes doing this I wanna crack open the LN2 now lol.

Just see how it is over a few days use,you might be able to lower it further

Its addictive isn't it? :)

Just don't get too greedy and go too high as cpus can be killed as i found out....but that was benching at 5.5Ghz a few years back.

happy with the 4.7Ghz @ 1.38v i have now with replacement cpu :)

Thanks for the advise Wazza I will see how it goes like you said mate.

Postmanfw, Yeh its very addictive. Nah I won't go mad, Im happy with my
4.5Ghz on Turbo as and when I need it, been in BF4 and had a mess about in
there and my temps didn't go above 55-56 and now im idling at about 27-28
so thats good enough for me. "For Now" lol.

Nice temps :) Mines low 70s under prime but 60 in games so comfortable with that.

Previous chip would bench high but just couldnt get stable at 5Ghz which was what i was aiming for.

4.5 is sweet spot for performance and low temps...been tempted to try one of the corsair coolers out but never did....yet :)

Was nice to get in the "5ghz club" with a sub 7sec super pi time but not worth it after chip became unstable at any speed/volts and couldnt get past bios....intel were very good about sending me a replacement one though :)

Def not wanting to kill this one......

That is similar to what I had on my 2500k shadz and they still a beast of a chip. As Wazza said use it like you usually would and you will either be stable and choose to lower offset even more or you leave it as were you are right now is rather good vcore. Have fun in you or further endeavours as once you start you don't stop :D

Well we have a new report, Whilst I was just playing on Rust not really a hugely
taxing game even though it makes my fans rev up lol, my PC froze so assuming its the OC
since its never froze before I have just put my Offset back to +0.025 and im just going to
use my PC as normal because Prime95 is a bit unrealistic really since you never usually run
your system like that.

Lets see what happens now.

I can see your point about prime but its a good way to test if the cpu is truly stable.

Had mine running at 4.7 and played ghosts all night no problem but 5 mins of prime and it crashed....just needed a extra notch or two of vcore.

Dont about the temps in prime as under normal usage gaming they will be a lot low...10c in my case....just make sure they stay under 80c though.

And if i worried you regarding my dead cpu lets just say that the vcore was waaaay north of 1.4v for that to happen...the silly things you do to get slightly better benchies :)

try and catch the bsod code if its win7

0x0000124 usually means more cpu v,or vccio

It didn't BSOD on me mate it just crashed everything locked up.
I have upped the Offset again and touch wood its been fine since and
my voltage on CPU-Z has been fine so will see what happens over
the next couple of days.

Ok so this is not so much of a problem as a general WTF.

So I have noticed that some of the time not all the time when i book up now I have
an OC that I will turn the PC on it will start to boot shutdown and then boot up properly.

whats all that about people ?

As per the guide I have left it set to "Auto" as the guide recommends that what you do.

I have been looking up on it and a lot of people on google say they have this with Asus
motherboards.

whatever auto is using for vccio try one or two clicks more and see if it still restarts from cold

I have asus board and mine doesn't do it,i think ive added one click more than stock, but im only running 8gb

that's what im using for vccio

Well i was just away peeling potatoes for Tea tonight and came back to a
Whea_uncorrectable_error
I had this before when i didn't have enough Offset so I have had to up it again.

Gonna see if that fixes the re-boot thing as well since it doesn't happen all the time just
every now and then maybe 1 in 5 times I boot

I would up the vcore another notch or two.

All cpus are different so theres no set vcore for certain overclock as you know.

All motherboards are different too in the way they handle auto settings.

On mine i just upped the vcore and the llc so that it didnt droop when stressed.

When i get time i will see if changing other settings will enable me to reduce vcore a bit but running at 1.38v 24/7 isnt a worry
