no keyboard

hi there,
strange one here.
I need to access the recovery console off the xp disc and am having problems.
When I get to the page where you are meant to press r my keyboard isn't working.
So i then tried to format and again no keyboard.
So I went into the bios and the keyboard is working.Its working when you have to confirm to boot off the disc,just not when the xp setup starts.
All this for the \windows\system32\config\SYSTEM error.

So anyone got any ideas?

have seen this happen before on laptops what model is it?

it is a fujistu siemens Amilo pro v7010

can it be sorted?

i think as a work around you can use a usb keyboard, its possibly a bios issue i check on the amilo forums and they seem to think downgrading to bios 1.09 might solve it,
