Hi all,

Just bought myself a nice new 24" iMac however it came with Tiger, is there a way I can get this upgraded for free?

Si

Yeah, if its new it should at the very least come bundled with an upgrade disc if not installed already. Did you get it from a reseller?

Pretty sure this happened to EVH with is new iMac.

Ring Apple and i'm pretty sure they will send it to you for free, providing you mean it's a new iMac from Apple? All their Macs are supposed to be shipped with Leopard pre-installed.

I know that the purple shirts have only just started getting macs in with leopard on, so some of them will still have tiger on as they don't sell many macs so there is slow turn around. Could have got it from there?

I got my mini less than 2 weeks ago from Apple and that came with Tiger pre-installed, there was however a Leopard DVD in the box...

Aye, that's known as a drop-in upgrade.

They usually do that to existing stock that has been received (to the warehouse) until they get pre-installed machines.

I think the issue here is that the OP didn't get a copy of Leopard at all.. I'm guessing Apple won't do anything if it wasn't bought from them/reseller.

It's likely they'll tell you to go back to the shop you got it.

COMPETITOR are having issues with it at the moment, and the resolution is physically checking if the box is Leopard or Tiger. If you did go to john lewis they should give you a 20 pounds refund, and you can pop onto apple's website and get the up-to-date dvd for 5.95. Check to see how long the up-to-date promotion is on for though :)
